SMWS Codes Intro
The SMWS codes are the unique identifiers used by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) to label their bottlings.
Each SMWS code has two parts:
- First number: the distillery code — a number (or letter + number) that corresponds to a specific distillery (e.g., 35 for Glen Moray).
- Second number: the cask number — this tells you which cask from that distillery was bottled (e.g., 53 for the 53rd cask the Society bottled from there).
